INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTVO) — The Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission is set to hold its first meeting today to explore the possibility of redrawing state boundaries.

The Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission was established to explore the possibility of redrawing state boundaries to include rural Illinois counties in Indiana.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun has appointed six members to the commission. Illinois has the opportunity to appoint five members if it passes matching legislation.

Any changes to the state boundaries proposed by the commission would require approval from the Indiana General Assembly, the Illinois Legislature, and the United States Congress.
