HOLMES COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - A Durant man was killed during a crash, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP).

The crash occurred on U.S. 51 south of Goodman in Holmes County around 6:30 p.m. on October 21, 2025.

According to MHP, a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling south on the highway when it left the road and collided with an embankment.

Troopers said the driver, 69-year-old Larry Ray Horton, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The passenger was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson with life-threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by MHP.
