MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- The South Carolina Forestry Commission is urging residents to use "extreme caution" during outdoor burning as dry air and increased winds are expected to impact fire conditions on Wednesday and Thursday.
"A very dry air mass will be pushing into the state, bringing relative humidity values down to the low 20s with sustained winds of 10-12 mph and gusts that could reach 20," the commission said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. "After Thursday, relative humidity should begin to increase and winds will moderate ... Please use extreme caution if you burn outdoors during this time, and consider postponing outdoor burning if possible."
