New Delhi, Oct 22: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday said India’s decisive military response under Operation Sindoor was not a sudden reaction, but the result of long-term strategic planning that began after the 2016 Uri terror attack.

Speaking at a Defence Ministry event in New Delhi, General Dwivedi said the operational groundwork was laid during extensive discussions within the Army’s higher command following the Uri strike.

“At that time, various options were explored on how India should respond to such provocations in the future. When the Pahalgam situation came up, it was not new to me — I had already seen it before,” he said.
