ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Schenectady man pleaded guilty in Albany County Court on Wednesday to a charge of criminally negligent homicide in connection with a 2024 dog mauling that killed 59-year-old James Provost. The Albany County District Attorney's Office said Omar Daniels, 45, is facing a possible sentence of two to four years in prison.
The DA's office said that through his guilty plea, Daniels confessed that nine of his pit bull terriers fatally mauled Provost behind a home at 594 Central Ave. on October 9, 2024. When police arrived at the scene the night of the mauling, they found nine dogs attacking a person, who was later identified as Provost.
Police fired at the dogs trying to stop the attack, killing one of the dogs. Emergency responders pronounced Provost dead on the scene
