BRANDON — The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville football team overcame a slow start offensively to begin the section playoffs.
It also happened to be the Bolts’ second victory over a new rival this season.
No. 3-seeded A-B-E eventually pulled away in the second half, scoring 28 unanswered points to defeat No. 6 West Central Area in the first round of the Section 5A playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The Bolts defense ended the game forcing four Knights turnovers, which included Carver Rylander’s 84-yard interception return for a touchdown to complete the scoring.
The teams’ played earlier in the year in Brandon on Sept. 19, a 22-12 Bolts victory. However, the start of the game was not what A-B-E head coach Dan Johnson envisioned.
