A Hackensack man already facing child endangerment charges has been arrested again — this time accused of assaulting a juvenile, authorities said.

Elijah E. Holder, 34, of Hackensack, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 22, following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella,

The investigation began Tuesday, Oct. 21, after the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the prosecutor’s office about an alleged assault.

Investigators determined that Holder “physically assaulted the juvenile by repeatedly striking the victim in Hackensack,” Musella said.

Holder was arrested in Bergenfield and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree aggravated assault, according to the prosecutor’s office.

He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.

Records show Holder was also charged in April 2025 in Hackensack with endangering — abuse/neglect of a child by caretaker. He was also charged with failing to restrain a child in a vehicle, simple assault, and multiple traffic offenses.

Musella said the charges are “merely accusations,” and that Holder “is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”

The prosecutor thanked the Hackensack Police Department and Bergenfield Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
