MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Unity Day, a day when students and teachers are encouraged to wear orange to stand up for kindness, acceptance and inclusion, is celebrated throughout the United States every year, and one Sun Prairie teacher has put her own personal spin on the celebration.

Sarah Jerina, a third-grade teacher at Creekside Elementary in Sun Prairie, created the “sharing closet” idea for this year’s Unity Day.

The sharing closet is full of items students may need: warm clothes, personal care items, snacks, and school supplies are available to the students, no questions asked.

Jerina, who stocks the closet with donations from her Amazon Wishlist and community support, is thrilled with the creation.
