NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Very dry air has moved into the area through the day Wednesday which will set the stage for a chilly night. Look for mid to upper 40s north with mid to upper 50s south Thursday morning.

Highs on Thursday should run around 80 to 85 degrees, with cool nights dropping into the 50s inland and around 60 near the coast. The air will stay very dry—afternoon humidity could dip near 25% in some northern spots and around 35% closer to the lake. Things moderate just a bit Thursday, but it’ll still feel crisp and fall-like.

By Friday, winds turn more southeasterly and moisture starts to creep back in from the Gulf. That will set the stage for our next storm system arriving late Saturday into Sunday. The system will likely track from Texas toward the Midwest, drawing up plenty of
