ROCHESTER, Minn. - Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 6 is expanding its facilities to accommodate the growing need for apprentices in Rochester. The expansion will add more than 3,000 square feet, resulting in a total of eight classrooms dedicated to hands-on learning.
The new building, which was bought in 2023, was previously used for parking. It will now house large classrooms specifically designed for hands-on training.
The apprenticeship program has seen a significant increase in participants, with 37 apprentices enrolled this year, marking the largest class in recent years.
This five-year program provides apprentices with multiple licenses and certifications upon completion. Classes are held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., two evenings per week, and include 10,000 hours of on-the-job training.
