CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Washington Commanders will prepare for their Week 8 Monday Night Football matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, without quarterback Jayden Daniels.

This is due to Daniels being sidelined with a low-grade hamstring strain that he suffered in the Week 7 loss to Dallas.

The injury occurred at the beginning of the second half while Daniels was trying to lead a comeback. Daniels was awkwardly sacked by Dallas’ Shemar James, with the lower part of his left leg caught under James.

Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota finished the rest of the eventual 44-22 loss.

Mariota, who started in Weeks 3-4 while Daniels was sidelined with a knee sprain and led the team to a Week 3 victory, is expected to start in Week 8.
