Iactually remember the first time my family visited a Pizza Hut. It was Owensboro's first and was located on 11th and Frederica Streets, right next to the railroad track. I'm not exactly sure what the year was, but I know it was more than 42 years ago, thanks to this cool story from The Owensboro Times.

Up to that point, my family's pizza cravings had always been satisfied by the local icon that was Pizza Roma, which is no longer in business. (And I miss it.) Honestly, that may have been the first time I ever ate at a national pizza chain. Well, we loved it. We love the pizza, the atmosphere (those checkerboard tables were perfect), and the red lamps. Yes, I remember marveling at the red lamps when I was a kid.
