LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A letter from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service said Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be on hold for all states come November due to the current government shutdown.

The letter was sent to all regional SNAP directors and state agency directors on Oct. 10.

The USDA said that SNAP has funding available for benefits and operations through the month of October. However, if the current lapse in appropriations continues, there will be insufficient funds to pay full November SNAP benefits for approximately 42 million individuals across the nation.
