PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Portland Police have arrested a suspect accused of shooting and killing a 39-year-old man in in 2022.

Officers arrested Justin Ortega-Mejia, 28, on Wednesday in connection to the shooting death of Mohamed Shaani, 39, back on March 27, 2022.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers responded to a reported shooting near Northeast Milton Street and Northeast 82nd Avenue in Portland’s Madison South neighborhood.

Responding officers found a man, later identified as Shaani, who had been shot at the scene. Shaani later died as a result of his injuries.

Following his arrest on Wednesday, Ortega-Mejia was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a charge of second-degree murder.
