After months of waiting, Pittsburgh Public Schools is officially joining the Pittsburgh Land Bank.

School directors during Wednesday’s legislative session unanimously approved an intergovernmental cooperation agreement with the land bank, giving the city’s school district a seat on the board of directors as well as approval power for acquisitions and dispositions.

No discussion took place Wednesday.

But during this month’s budget workshop, board President Gene Walker indicated he was “fully on board.”

“The reality of this is being a part of this, approving this through this board, not only gives us representation on this board but it expedites a process that can help revitalize communities, turn properties back into tax producing properties and just is good all around,” Mr. Walker said
