HARVEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) -- Kansas farmers are responding to a proposal to import beef from Argentina. President Donald Trump floated the possibility on social media as a way to drive down grocery prices, but the proposal is being met with concerns from producers across the state.

The proposal, combined with the president's Truth Social comments that cattle ranchers "don't understand" how tariffs have benefitted them, has drawn backlash. The National Cattlemen's Beef Association and other farm groups have already condemned the plan.

Steven McCloud is a cattle rancher who lives just outside of Newton. He says if the administration brings in foreign products, it could shake up a market that is only recently finding its feet.
