A mortgage company worker was shot and killed while working in Stafford County, Virginia, Tuesday morning, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

The victim, Michael Dodge II, 35, was talking on the phone with a coworker at the 600 block of Mountain View Road when the coworker heard gunshots being fired, then no longer heard Dodge, according to the sheriff. 

Dodge’s coworker called authorities, and officers went to the scene. 

Deputies found Dodge lying in the driveway unresponsive, and when they got into the residence, they found and communicated with the shooter, Donald Thomas, 64, according to the sheriff. 

Thomas was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and unlawfully shooting or wounding in the commission of a felony. He is being held at the Rappahannock Regio
