[DES MOINES, Iowa] — The State Auditor is set to review licensing procedures carried out by the State Department of Education and the Board of Education Examiners.

Auditor Rob Sand announced that his office received a request from a legislature to examine licensing and background check procedures.

Sand clarified that this review is separate from a recent request to audit Des Moines Public Schools, which necessitates a petition or official request.

These audits follow the arrest of the former Des Moines superintendent by federal immigration officials.
