SUNBURY, Pa. — The city of Sunbury decided Tuesday night to make a change to the city's water supply.
"It's very disappointing because we really need to try to help the patients, and the fluoride does a lot for the children and even the adult patients,” said Julio Lara, a dentist at the Susquehanna River Valley Dental Health Clinic.
The Sunbury Municipal Authority voted Tuesday to stop adding fluoride to the water supply due to a letter from employees expressing "concerns about handling fluoride and the potential long-term effects of exposure."
The Municipal Authority General Manager also told Newswatch16 they had explored other options, but ultimately decided that keeping fluoride was too harmful for employees tasked with putting it in the water.
