TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Several Big Bend and South Georgia high school teams were in action last night looking to inch closer to state titles.

In Georgia, Sweet Sixteen play hit the field for softball teams. Winners of the second round match-ups seal up their spot in each classifications eight team, double elimination state tournament in Columbus. In AAA, the Cairo ladies fell 8-6 and 8-1 to West Laurens, seeing their season end.

The Thomasville Lady Dogs split with Elbert County, winning game one 11-6 before falling 10-9 in game two. The if necessary game three is set for Thursday at 2:00. The winner secures a spot in Columbus.

In Florida, high school volleyball teams began state playoffs this week. In Class 4A, Suwannee’s season ended at South Walton Wednesday night in a 3-0 sweep,
