More than 100 people attended a memorial service in honor of a dedicated public servant who died in the line of duty a year ago.
Robert Sharkevich Sr, died while battling the Hawthorne Fire that burned more than 100 acres in Berlin.

The service was held at the King Parish’s Church of the Incarnation. Many of the firefighters who attended served alongside Sharkevich Sr., affectionately known as Sharky.
His oldest son, Robert Sharkevich Jr., is also a firefighter. He reflected on the past year without his father.
