HOLLYWOOD -- There is a new take on a thriller that first captivated movie audiences 33 years ago. It's "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," and it promises to be a very different version of the original.
"It's a very different film. It's really, I think, taking it to a very current, modern place in all aspects," said Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Winstead plays a mom in need of a nanny. Maika Monroe plays the young woman she selects for the job. Like the original, there is a dark twist at play. It's just not the same twist.
"We've talked about how great the energy of the '90s thriller is so fun and fantastic, and we all love it," said Winstead. "But that gets to kind of exist in that place and now we have this that kind of exists in our current time."
