Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Thursday strongly criticized the Kupwara district administration after the name of former Langate MLA Muhammad Sultan Panditpori was omitted from the Assembly’s obituary references.

Taking serious note of the lapse during the proceedings, the Speaker expressed disappointment over the administration’s failure to communicate the former legislator’s demise to the Assembly Secretariat.

Calling the oversight “highly irresponsible,” Rather said such errors show a lack of coordination and respect for those who have served the people and the institution.

He directed officials to ensure that due protocol is maintained in all future communications related to deceased public representatives.
