At least one man died and five others were seriously injured in a high-intensity blast at the Verka milk plant on the Ferozepur road in Ludhiana late Wednesday. The Verka brand is owned by the government’s milk procurement cooperative, Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (MILKFED).
Sub Inspector Aditya Sharma, Station House Officer of the Sarabha Nagar police station, said the blast, prima facie, occurred in the boiler section of the air heater of the plant late at night. He said six workers were present on the spot who got injured in the explosion.
