Halloween is creeping up on us. It’s a time to get in touch with your spooky side, lean into scary stories and embrace all things ghostly.

Across the UK are places rich in haunting tales of apparitions and the paranormal. Some are rooted in myth and legend, while others are based on real-life events.

They include historical battlefields, abandoned abbeys and ancient stone circles. With spooky season upon us, researchers from Go Outdoors have named the best places to go for a bone-chilling walk.

One of these locations is right on our doorstep in Lancashire . Pendle Hill was named the fifth-spookiest walk in the country, according to the study.
