Three Falmouth residents were rescued by the US Coast Guard on Wednesday morning , October 22 after an electrical fire disabled their boat near Naushon Island.

The US Coast Guard Sector Southern New England confirmed that all three on board evacuated the vessel and swam to Naushon Island. All three were on the Coast Guard helicopter and en route to the Hyannis Hospital at 9:01 AM, the Coast Guard said.

A spokes person for the Coast Guard said the family (mother, father—both in their early 70s—and son), who had been aboard a 30 foot Chris Craft, had been woken up in the middle of the night on Monday, to the vessel fire. According to a family friend, the vessel departed Eel Pond Harbor for Naushon Island and was scheduled to return at around 2 PM Tuesday.
