Spencer Budris tallied the lone goal of the match for 14th-seeded Caldwell in its 1-0 win against 30th-seeded Technology in the second round of the Essex County Invitational in West Caldwell.
Caldwell’s win sends it through to the quarterfinal round where it will visit sixth-seeded Newark Collegiate, winners by a 3-2 margin over 11th-seeded Science Park in its second round matchup.
Tyler Nappi notched the assist on Budris’ goal and Brody Newman made four saves to record the shutout for Caldwell (5-9-2).
Technology falls to 6-8 and will look to rebound on Friday when it visits Verona.
