On Monday, October 20, Bourne’s Special Town Meeting saw all of the 13 articles put up for vote approved, but Article 12—a motion to amend Bourne’s zoning code and bring it into compliance with the MBTA Communities Act—was the subject of extensive criticism from voters, despite its unanimous approval by the Select Board and Finance Committee. Although the motion passed 69-47, half of the approximately 225 registered voters in the audience abstained. All of the planned projects for Funding Year 2026 will go forward, however, including design and engineering work for the Monument Beach Marina, replacement for both the police station and Bourne Middle School roofs, and the Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) Facility overhaul, among others.
