EVANSVILLE — This should be the most anticipated time of the high school football season.

That sentiment is true to an extent with the start of the state tournament on Friday, Oct. 24. It's win or go home mode for most of Southwestern Indiana (Castle, North and Memorial start the postseason with byes). But the first-round slate isn't the strongest ― the ping pong balls did spare us a few high-profile games until later.
