WINFIELD -- Injuries can have a lingering effect on athletes, whether it's physically, mentally or emotionally.
Winfield's Jared Miller had to overcome an injury to his shoulder last football season that took him out the remainder of his sophomore year.
As a junior, Miller has picked up right where he left off following his injury.
It wasn't an easy journey back to the gridiron, according to the Generals quarterback, but it all paid off in the end.
"It definitely hurt my mental pretty bad," Miller said. "I couldn't do the stuff that I loved. So, in that way, I got mentally stronger and just realized how to cope with stuff better."
Miller not only competes on the gridiron, but he also plays basketball and baseball at Winfield.
