Days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged large scale “vote theft” in Karnataka and several other states, the Opposition party on Thursday said the SIT probe has found evidence that Rs 80 was paid to a data operating centre for filing each fake voter deletion request in the Aland seat.

“A major scam has come to light in the ‘vote theft’ incident in Aland, Karnataka. SIT has found evidence that a payment of 80 rupees was made for deleting each voter from the Aland seat,” the Congress said in a post on X.

According to the Congress, the Karnataka SIT investigation revealed that in the alleged ‘vote theft’ scam, fake applications were filed to delete the names of 6,018 voters, for which a total payment of 4.8 lakh rupees was made.
