Guns N' Roses have issued a statement explaining why frontman Axl Rose had a meltdown on-stage recently. The 63-year-old rocker appeared to lose his temper during the band's opening number, Welcome to the Jungle, during their show in Buenos Aires, Argentina last weekend. According to concert footage posted on YouTube, Rose threw his microphone towards the drum kit, peeled off his leather jacket and stormed off the stage at the Tomás Adolfo Ducó stadium. He was also spotted kicking the bass drum elsewhere in the show. His behaviour led fans to speculate if Rose was angry over technical difficulties or the band's new drummer Isaac Carpenter. The Sweet Child O' Mine hitmakers explained what happened in a social media statement on Wednesday. "During the opening song at our recent Buenos Aires concert, Axl's in-ear monitor pack had only the percussion in his ears versus the entire mix," the statement read. "The issue was fixed by our tech by the third song, and we had a great night." They went on to insist that Rose's actions "had nothing to do with" Carpenter, who they described as "top notch and a great drummer". Carpenter joined the band earlier this year after Frank Ferrer quit after 19 years as the drummer in March. Carpenter, who previously drummed for Awolnation, was announced as his replacement the following day. The rockers kicked off their Latin American tour on 1 October. They are next set to perform in São Paulo, Brazil on Saturday.
