The inappropriate use of a SNAP card to purchase items for Eddystone recreational activities drew council’s attention at a recent meeting .

During public comment at the Oct. 14 council meeting, a resident raised the question about a receipt that showed a Pennsylvania SNAP food stamp card was used to purchase items that was reimbursed by the borough.

The purchase apparently occurred in 2024.

The resident asked which council member is the liaison for the recreation board. It is Council President Mandy Hall, however Council Member Randall Perry was the liaison in 2024.

The resident said she was in possession of a receipt from Walmart for items for a recreation event that used a food stamp card for payment.

“That’s illegal,” the resident said. “Especially if it is being resold.”
