A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a car in Waterbury on Wednesday night.

Fire officials said a man was struck by a car in the area of Wolcott Street and Long Hill Road, and the driver fled.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The Crash Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation. No additional information was immediately available.
