The University of Toledo’s Rocket Slam is a yearly tradition that for many, marks the beginning of the college basketball season.
While it serves as a fun way for fans to interact with the teams, it also gives new players a taste of what playing at Savage Arena is like and a chance to practice their skills.
“We can tell them about the environment and the atmosphere, but until you feel it for yourself it's just hard to put it into words,” Toledo women’s basketball coach Ginny Boggess said. “It's special for our new guys and it's really fun for the fans to see our returners, how they've developed physically in their games, and how much our team loves one another.”
The women’s basketball team, who was picked to finish second in the Mid-American Conference preseason poll, began the night co
