FINDLAY — Officials have identified the man shot and killed by Findlay police on Wednesday as Robert Norton of Findlay.
Police responded to a home in the 1600 block of Cherry Lane on a report of a shooting at 1:47 p.m., Lt. Andrew Welch said in a statement.
Upon officers’ arrival at the address, a dispatcher tried to contact the caller but received no answer, the lieutenant wrote. Mr. Norton opened the door for the officers, “brandished a firearm at the officers,” and the officers fired multiple rounds, hitting him several times.
No one else was found in the house, and officers rendered first aid, but Mr. Norton died shortly thereafter following transport to Blanchard Valley Hospital.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting a further investigation. No police officers
