BLOOMONGTON ― The sectional was a test of everything Bloomington South's volleyball team had worked so hard to become in the offseason.

It was as much about their faith in themselves and connections with each other as much as their improved skills that helped carry the Panthers through three difficult wins at Terre Haute South.

“It meant a lot," South coach Emma Abplanalp said. "The girls, their celebration told me that they went over there and earned that title. The whole season of work, they were excited for each other and for the program."

It was perilous journey at times, starting with the opener against Terre Haute North, as the Patriots rebounded from an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth set, which went back and forth before South prevailed 15-12.
