A longtime child welfare agency in Dearborn Heights announced it is ending a residential treatment program for young girls.

In a statement posted on its website Wednesday, Vista Maria officials said they were making a "thoughtful shift" and ending the effort focused on youth mental health. About 150 staff will be laid off and 11 girls living at the facility need relocating, according to the website.
