MONROE, Michigan — Monroe police are investigating a suspicious fire that engulfed a vehicle and damaged surrounding structures late Wednesday night.

According to a press release from the Monroe Public Safety Department, officers responded to the 900 block of East Fourth Street after receiving reports of a fire. The officers found a vehicle parked behind a residence. The vehicle was completely engulfed in flames, police said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, and it was determined no one was injured in the incident, according to the press release.

However, the vehicle sustained extensive damage on the rear driver's side corner, and the fire damaged a nearby wooden privacy fence and a power line connected to the residence.
