TOLEDO, Ohio — A woman has been charged with murder in the 2018 death of a man, according to police reports and court records.
A Lucas County grand jury indicted 33-year-old Shelby McCarthy-Smith with two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault and one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle. According to the indictment, the incident occurred on April 28, 2018.
A press release from Toledo police on Thursday stated McCarthy-Smith had been arrested in Michigan for the death of Steve Ricks, who was 68 at the time of his death. His death was ruled a homicide through an autopsy, according to the press release.
A Toledo police report from April 2018 connected to McCarthy-Smith's indictment said officers responded to the 1100 block of Gordon Street at approximately 9 a.m. on a safety
