ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla — The pilot of a plane was taken to a hospital Thursday morning after their plane crashed a couple miles north of the St. Augustine Airport, according to a St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesperson.

Crews responded just after 8 a.m. to the crash, which happened off airport property in a marsh near Island Road and Redfish Creek Drive, the spokesperson said.

The pilot is stable, according to the spokesperson.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, including what caused it, the spokesperson said.
