New Delhi: For the second time in a week, strong winds in New Zealand forced the cancellation of over 200 flights on Thursday, 23 October 2025. Power outage was reported in many areas, and schools were forced to close.
Cities like the capital, Wellington, and Christchurch in the South Island were hardest hit. The Meteorological Department has issued the most dangerous red warning for several areas.
Situation severe
While no deaths or serious injuries were reported, authorities said the situation was severe. Earlier in the week, a Wellington man was killed by a falling tree branch when another storm system swept through the country, AP reported.
