(WJET/WFXP)-- Pennsylvanians who annually enroll in Pennsylvania's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will have to wait an extra month to enroll, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services announced, as the ripple effect of the federal government shutdown continues to impact residents.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) stated that, due to the federal government shutdown, they haven't received the funds to start LIHEAP enrollment on time, pushing the enrollment start date for the federally funded program to December 3 for now.

Each year, LIHEAP enrollment begins on November 3 in Pennsylvania, and pays utility companies and home heating fuel providers on behalf of residents so they can keep their homes warm during winter.
