INGRAM, Pa. — Authorities in Pennsylvania are warning parents to check their children's Halloween candy after a bag containing a white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, was found among trick-or-treat items Thursday night.
According to Ingram police, the powder was discovered inside a small knotted baggie and later tested positive for cocaine during preliminary field testing. Investigators say it is unclear where or when the substance was placed in the child's candy bag.
Officials urge parents and guardians to carefully inspect all Halloween treats before allowing children to eat them.
"If additional information is obtained, we will let you know," police said in a statement.
