LIBERTY A man holding a knife to his own throat brought a large law enforcement response in Liberty early Thursday.

According to a police report, Liberty PD was advised of an active chase after police in Weathersfield Township attempted to pull a vehicle over for speeding. Police say Weathersfield and Girard PD terminated the pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle.

From there, Liberty police began patrolling the area of Laurel Street, where they found suspect Michael Harris, who allegedly brought a box cutter up to his neck. Liberty PD identified Harris as the suspect in the chase.

According to the report, Harris would not comply with officers' orders to drop the knife, telling police he wanted to end his life and that he wanted officers to shoot him.
