The mother of a 14-year-old girl who was stabbed in the face and punched repeatedly outside her high school in Montreal’s NDG earlier this month spoke publicly Thursday about the violent attack that injured her daughter and took a toll on their lives.

According to Ping, who did not want to use her last name, “her daughter was the target of shocking knife violence as she arrived at her school that day. She was surprised to see the male teenager standing there, as he had left the school last summer to attend another one. Without warning, she says the boy lunged at her, punching and stabbing her repeatedly, causing a cut on her face. No other bodily injury was sustained as her backpack protected her. She repeatedly screamed ‘I’m sorry’ while covering her body from the attack.”
