Bengaluru, Oct 23: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the coastal districts of Karnataka due to expected heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds over the next few days. In addition, a yellow alert has been declared for 27 districts across the state as widespread rain is forecast to continue.

The IMD reports that intense rainfall has been recorded in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada over the past few days, with similar conditions expected to persist.

“Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely in coastal areas tomorrow, with wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 km/h,” an IMD official said. The possibility of floods and landslides in vulnerable hilly regions has been highlighted.
