Today, I write with urgency, solidarity and conviction. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in our neighborhoods is a threat to individual families and a threat to our collective future, local economy and the safety of all who call this place home.

Families are being torn apart. People living and working among us are being pulled into fear and uncertainty.

ICE’s actions also send shockwaves through our economy. Businesses suffer when customers are afraid to leave their homes. Farms, restaurants, hospitals and construction sites depend on steady, reliable labor, but when workers feel targeted, work slows or stops. Crops rot in the fields, restaurants reduce hours and care for the elderly and infirm suffers.
