NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the shooting deaths of a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man that occurred early Wednesday (Oct. 22).

The shooting happened in the 1800 block of Jo Ann Place in Algiers. The man’s identity has not been disclosed, but sources identified the slain girl to Fox 8 as Lizzell Palma.

Walter L. Cohen High School issued a statement confirming the slain 16-year-old was a junior and honor roll student at the school.
