VINTON, La. (KPLC) - A Vinton man is behind bars, accused of possessing child pornography.

Derek Hess, 24, faces 11 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles.

On Aug. 27, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began an investigation into Hess after it received a complaint from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent said.

According to Vincent, Hess owned an online account that had child sexual abuse material. On Oct. 22, detectives spoke to Hess, who admitted to downloading and sharing CSAM using multiple online accounts.

Hess was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. His bond is pending.
